SUSTAINABILITY

Advancing Products

Our journey begins with our design and development teams, who craft collections using practices that protect the world we cherish. We hold ourselves to the highest standards in the materials we use, but recognize we are just getting started and will continue looking for more ways to advance sustainability in our sourcing and production.

Responsible Sourcing
RESPONSIBLE SOURCING

It's simple: We only work with garment factories that share our core values of respect and equality in the treatment of their employees and a willingness to continuously improve their social and environmental impacts.

Responsible Sourcing

Chemical Management

Chemical Management

Making certain our products are safe is our utmost priority. We regularly review and update our chemical policies and restricted substance list (RSL). We’ve aligned with American Apparel and Footwear Association’s RSL and associated guidance to constantly improve transparency and chemical management.

Materials

Materials

To keep our classic styles fit for the future, we seek to use raw materials that are more environmentally or socially responsible than their conventional counterparts. As part of our preferred fiber strategy, we incorporate innovative, lower-impact materials into our designs. We currently use materials like REPREVE® recycled polyester, LENZING™ ECOVERO™ Viscose and TENCEL™ Lyocell, and other raw materials that are certified to standards like Global Organic Textile Standard and Global Recycled Standard—impeccable-quality fabrics that are optimized for your lifestyle and better for our environment.

Like many brands, cotton is at the core of our apparel business. While cotton remains a global commodity, supporting the livelihood of millions of farmers worldwide, its cultivating practices can be detrimental to the environment. In early 2020, we became members of Better Cotton and are in the process of creating a more strategic cotton sourcing portfolio across our product suite. Since 2021, an estimated 119 million gallons of water were saved and 634 pounds of pesticides were avoided through our sourcing of Better Cotton*.

To ensure that any tin, tantalum, tungsten, or gold (also known as conflict minerals) are sourced with respect for people and that human rights are upheld, we strictly adhere to the Conflict Minerals Policy adopted by our parent company.

*Better Cotton is sourced via a chain of custody model called mass balance. This means that Better Cotton is not physically traceable to end products; however, Better Cotton farmers benefit from the demand for Better Cotton in equivalent volumes to those we source.
