Brim blocks the sun so you can navigate the waters wouldn't being blinded, cool enough for scorching hot days. The only complaint is I ordered my size L and it is defintiely too big! Can't return for a smaller size as it's discontinued so now I'm stuck with a hat that doesn't fit right and I'm afraid the loose fit is going to fly away if I use the speed boat vs the pontoon. In summary, great craftsmanship and quality but the sizing is truly incorrect and unacceptable at this price point.
