Rated 3 out of 5 by Ginny B from Hard to open I bought this umbrella because my previous Tommy Bahama umbrella lasted close to 10 years. I wanted something well made and sturdy for the beach sun and to hold up to the breezes. The old one finally gave out when one of the spokes bent. This one seems well made also, however it is very hard to open. I don't know why but it is very difficult to get the umbrella over the plastic lever. It takes several tries.This was disappointing. Love the fabric though.

We were surprised at how light yet sturdy the Tommy Bahama design is and have already used it a few times with no complaints. The price is a bit higher than cheaper models but this is a case where you definitely get what you pay for. We're ready to order another very soon. Definitely recommend.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Beach guy G from Very well built but a bit heavier It’s a bit heavier and sadly it’s not 8’. I assume it’s not an 8 footer because the frame work would add more weight and create a larger sail. This one looks like it’s made to survive strong winds. It doesn’t slide all the way down the base pole to adjust the umbrella height. It simply slides in a few inches and stops. I can live with the weight and so could you if you have serious winds but I would like it to be 8’. It is very well made and will likely last a long time. I have the TB 2019 and it is lighter, 8’ and height adjustable but it has folded in a random strong wind gust.
