Strengthening operations
The only footprints we want to leave are in the sand. We’re working every day to reduce our environmental impact, bringing you the best of the Island Life while caring for the world that sustains it.
We are uncompromising in our commitment to reduce emissions, improve our energy efficiency, and minimize the amount of waste we produce.
We’ve taken initial steps, but our journey is far from over. We’ll continue analyzing our impact so we can do more each year to reduce the environmental footprint of our operations.
In 2018, we measured the environmental impact of nearly everything we do at all of our stores, restaurants, and Marlin Bars. We also calculated our first-ever Greenhouse Gas Inventory, assessing our carbon footprint across our business and setting science-based emission reduction targets in 2020. Due to COVID-19 impacts within our organization, we will further address our carbon reduction targets in 2021.
Now that we better understand our impact, we are creating an action plan to make our footprint smaller. First, we’re focusing on reducing greenhouse gas emissions at our restaurants, Marlin Bars, stores, and also the manner in which we deliver our products
We have reduced the amount of energy we use at our retail store locations by installing more energy-efficient LED lighting.
Our Seattle headquarters are accredited with LEED Gold certification for energy efficiency, water usage, air quality, and other important environmental factors.
We’re using more sustainable materials in our marketing collateral.
85% of all our printed marketing materials are recyclable and include post-consumer content.
90% of all of our catalogs include post-consumer recycled content.
80% of the signage in our stores are made from recycled material.
