Horrible chair. Made with cheap plastic parts. Not built to last. Save your money. I got the chair as a bridal shower gift. I used it for the FIRST time over a year later and the plastic piece below the arm rest completely cracked. Several other reviews have complained of the same issue. I called Guest Services where all they did was offer me a 25% off coupon to buy a new chair. Will not be using Tommy Bahama products in the future.

Marlin Palms Ultimate Beac Chair
I am extremely satisfied with this purchase. Can't say yet how well it will hold up over time of sun, water and sand exposure, but very comfy, roomy and seems well made so far. The lumbar support and pillow helps some for my damaged lower back and neck. Cons: It is a bit heavy if you are walking a long distance (especially if storgae pockets are full) but is intended to be carried backpack style.The shade is a bit tricky at times, but I am still very happy with the overall quality and price when you consider it includes chair, shade, table, built in insulated pocket and storage and fully reclines flat.

VERY DISAPPOINTED!!!!
I thought I would love this chair. It is too heavy; the pouches on the arms hang down if you want to carry the chair by the handle on the arm, which I found out the hard way causes a tripping hazzard; the chair doesn't close tightly if you want to carry it by the handle at the top of the chair.

The ultimate comfort racer
Fast setup, smooth comfort, and all-day performance. The Tommy Bahama with sun shade and foot stool takes first place in my book. If beach comfort were a sport, this chair just lapped the competition.

Almost Perfect Char
The chair height is great. Chair is heavy carrying in the sand to the ocean beach. Shade needs to be re- designed. Good face coverage for naps, no light to read bad for watching waves. Legs aren't covered & sunburn.

Excellent chair for the price!
I buy chairs every year and they always fall apart or don't last long. This chair is the Ferrari of beach chairs. It has everything and is a great price for all that you receive. The cooler, the umbrella, the side pockets, backpack and the can opener. I would rate this a 10+ chair. Vicky

It fits!

Unexpected
While the chair is in good working order, as soon as I attempted to close the buckle clasp to use the shoulder straps, the strap threading broke away so the enclosure buckle won't work until I can resew the buckle to the strap. For the cost of the chair, this should not be an issue.

This is our second time purchasing the beach chair. We have had our first chairs for over ten years and loved them so much that we thought it was time to upgrade with the shade and stool. Used them for the first time last weekend. Love the extra pillow, shade and foot rest. I did have to use the pillow on the foot rest for comfort. 5star!

Just rivet the shade to the chair
Purchased 2 Tommy Bahama Marlin Palms Ultimate Beach Chairs. This was to replace a Rio chair that had a fixed sunshade. My assumption was that this chairs sunshade was also permanently fixed to the chair. However it is not and unclips often which make it very frustrating and somewhat unusable. Unfortunately to make the sunshade more user friendly you will have to find a way to make it permanently fixed to the chair. The Rio chair aforementioned had the exact same shade, but it was riveted to the chair to avoid it falling off. Such a simple addition would make this chair so much better and would have gotten a much better review from this customer.

Please help!! Marlin Palms Chair Broken
It boggles my mind how the company can manufacture a pretty pricey chair,especially with a high end name and use plastic parts!!!
The plastic piece under one of the arms that hooks into the slots to adjust the back was cracked. I don’t know why plastic is the material of choice. I was so disappointed. I will definitely reach out to the company to see if I can obtain a replacement part, but something tells me it will only fail again being plastic!

Debated on this purchase for a while, but it was worth the money. Excellent quality and material. Chair is very well made. A little heavier than anticipated, but the quality of materials and thick wood handles explain this. Back pocket holds the the table which breaks down in to smaller pieces for storage and there is still a large amount of space to store the extra smaller pillow and other personal items. Sun cover snaps off and on easily and can be slide between the seat and back of the chair when chair is folded for storage to to carry. Overall, fantastic purchase and I look forward to using the on the beach for years to come...
