Ho'okipa Sunglasses by Maui Jim®

Rated 1 out of 5 by from NOT AS PICTURED!!!! Totally different blue - not reflective - do NOT buy these thinking they are going to have lenses that look like the images shown. This is my THIRD pair of these exact glasses and these are crap compared to the original and what is shown here. Very disappointed!!! I’m returning them - don’t be fooled by the original blue lenses pictured here!!!!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Blue Hawaii not the same as orginal Props and a big Mahalo to Michael & Maui Jim repair team for handling & repairing my Blue Hawaii Ho'okipa. The reason for the low rating is the change in the color of the lenses. I purchased my Ho'okipa when the Blue Hawaii Lenses were first released (2015ish??). The Blue Hawaii Lenses are described as "A blue mirror coating is applied to the outside surface of our PolarizedPlus2 Neutral Grey lens." The new lenses that arrived are hardly that. The inside of the lenses is more HCL bronze and the mirror coating is not as good. Looking in the mirror with my original lenses, you could not see my eyes & it was truly reflective. The new lenses are not as dark & are see through (not reflective). For comparison, I also have a pair of Lighthouse in the Neutral Grey & Kahana in the HCL Bronze. The new Blue Hawaii lenses are more like my HCL bronze lenses. I am disappointed as the Blue Hawaii tint is move of my favorites. Blue Hawaii lenses on the website are more true to the product that I received. Attached are photos of the Ho'okipa side by side with the Lighthouse (Neutral Grey) & Kahana (HCL Bronze) and a close up of the Ho'okipa.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding Quality Sunglasses Maui Jim is the best! I've had my 2nd pair of Ho'Okipa for years and really took care of them. Lens is outstanding. I retired as an engineer and was out in the field most of the time. Polarized lens works wonders with glare and protects my eyes from direct sunlight all day long. The not so good part is, I just lost them today. I dropped it while taking off my hoody sweatshirt in the parking lot. After reviewing the lot CCTV camera, man parked by me picked it up and secretly put it in his car while I was busy looking for it inside my car. I need a new pair, but I'm concern if the new ones are still the same design and still made in Japan.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Comfortable glasses Sunglasses are great, light and flexible. Only issue is that the lens has a crack by the screw hole. Still enjoy them.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great but......................... When the sunglasses are new they are spectacular. Best pair of sunglasses I ever owned easily. After having them for 6 months I noticed they scratched fairly easily and the glasses themselves were fragile. While I never crushed them or damaged them I found myself worrying about their well being. Maybe this is what happens when you get this style of glasses and it's not the glasses fault? I have long eyelashes and over time I believe the oil and lashes scatched and clouded up the inside of the lens. Maybe there are things that can be done to prevent this but didn't realize it was happening until it was too late. I am debating whether I should get another pair. Reading all the poorer reviews brings back memories of why not get them. I would like my sunglasses to last several years, but is that asking too much? That is an honest question not sarcasm, maybe this style of sunglasses are not designed to last that long? I don't know? So I like the product and company, but they do seem to wear with heavy use.
