Terrible design
I spent 30 minutes trying to close it. I still cannot get it to close. This is a very disappointing product and will not be bringing it to the beach again.

Tough to collapse
These chairs are sturdy however the collapse mechanism needs refinement. It's good for about 2-3 collapse then it just stops. I would not recomend

Comfortable chair but flawed
I bought 2 of these chairs at Christmas for my husband and I to use when we go to the beach and attend local events. We pulled them out of the boxes this week and took them to the beach today. Like others - we were embarassed when we couldn't get them to fold back up! Thank goodness the back seat of car folds down so we could at least get them home and not have to throw them away. Now we are trying to collapse them using some WD40 and using the other reviewers suggestions. I buy a lot from Tommy Bahama and normally am so pleased. These could be such great chairs if you could collapse them.

I find this chair very comfortable, and easy to put up and down. Perfect for sitting on the beach, or at the lake. Wonderful choice if you want a chair that is light weight but sits like a heavy chair!

Terrible Champion chair
We purchased two of the folding Champion beach chairs. HORRIBLE chair! It is impossible to fold back up. Four adults spent 30 minutes at the beach trying to pack up these chairs. Very embarrassing for all of us. I'm surprised that TB would be offering chairs that do not operate correctly and would hope that you would replace these chairs with another product that works. FYI, my dining room and living rooms are both furnished with your products. Please do the right thing and provide us with chairs that actually work.

Frustrating chair
Purchased this chair last year and only made one trip to the beach. The chair came back unfolded and has been sitting in my grarage open ever since. It is impossible to fold this chair for storage. Really bad design and with no instructions on how to actually fold it up for storage. I do not recommend purchasing this particular chair.

Very comfortable but yup impossible to fold up
I read the reviews and went ahead and bought two of these chairs since I had a$50 coupon. Really comfortable and easy to unfold. As others have said NOT easy to fold back up! On the beach we had to carry them back to the car unfolded and shove them in. Come on TB why are you still selling them to the public? I was hoping the ones I got had the problem rectified but I guess not. Keeping them by the pool and not bringing them to the beach. Shame on TB for continuing this line at full price

Works great - just don't bring it to the beach!!
This was hands down the worst designed beach chair we've ever owned. Sure it's comfy, but you have to bring a mallet to the beach just to close it! Thank goodness we read the review of how to close it otherwise we were about to just leave them at the beach for someone else to claim. Good luck to all who have purchased.

BEST lightweight chairs on the market

Great Chair - HERE IS HOW TO CLOSE
I purchased 2 of these chairs and like many others have posted, I had one that would just not close after first use and I thought I may break it. I took some time and compared the two and how the one that did close worked. What I found out is the front lower sliding pieces (down by the front feet of the chair) seem to get easily stuck if sand or anything causing friction gets in there. So to close them what I did was tilt the chair back on the back legs, grasp both front leg sliding pieces by the feet, and slide them both up. Once that starts the whole chair folds up easily. I also sprayed some WD-40 on each of the sliding areas on both the legs and the arms and work them open and closed a couple times. I now use these chairs all the time with no issues, and they are comfortable, sturdy and easy to transport. I hope this helps

Sturdy chair, poor operation
This is a very nice looking chair and appears to be very sturdy. Unfortunately, I did not read the reviews before purchasing. While trying to leave the beach before a storm, we were trying to close the chair and put it back in it’s carry bag. We tried everything and could not close it. We had to carry it back open which was very awkward. When we were home, we looked at reviews and realized MANY others had trouble folding up their Champion Chair. We looked up youtube videos about how to close the chair, but none of the videos really explained how to do it! Very frustrating. No instructions come with the chair. This is a VERY expensive beach chair. Considering all the people that have complained about the operation of this chair, we feel Tommy Bahama should either change the design or provide instructions on how to properly operate this chair.

Impossible to Fold/Close
Unfolding is fine, a little struggle. BUT folding it back, IMPOSSIBLE! People at the beach are staring at us, what a struggle. I need a refund!

Horrible folding chair that does not fold.
This is not a portable, foldable chair as advertised. Once it is opened, it can not be folded up again without breaking it. Very poor design. I would never buy again and trying to figure out how to get a refund.

Problems closing chair
The chair opened easily and was comfortable for beach, but it would not close. I searched for directions to close but nothing was included. I have tried calling customer service but gave up after 60 minutes on hold.

Overpriced Chair that has limited use capacity.
I used it 3 times and wouldnt close. Had to fight with it for 1.5 hours in the heat to get it to fold up so I could transport it back to the car.

Comfortable, sturdy, lightweight chair
I bought 2 of these chairs and could not be happier. I purchased them mainly for a beach vacation but now we use them everywhere. These chairs are sturdy but fold up easily to transport and are very compact and light. The mesh back allows air flow so they are great even in very hot weather.

The chair is ok looking.The handle wrapping is kinda cheap looking and not great. It is essentially impossible to close the chair without a mallet. Our other Tommy chair is much better. We plan on returning this one.

Don't Buy This Chair!
This chair looks good and is comfortable. BUT, it cannot be dis-assembled. Really, we could not close it up to put it back in the car. We tried for an hour, had at least 5 other smart your super techie men stop by to help us and no one could figure out how to close it. Ultimately, we had to leave it by the side of the road.

Disappointed
The fabric material was great. I could not open or close the chair frame because the folding joints did not function. I left the chair at the beach for trash pick-up. I requested a refund. The customer service was excellent, really excellent, but I will not buy another Tommy Bahama chair like this

Great chairs!
Verv comfortable beach chairs. Also, have used them to sit and watch our gra dsin play all star little league baseball. I woyluld like to think that these chairs contributed to him winning his game and hitting a double off the left field fence. Almost a homerun. Highly recommended.
