The waste band adjusts to accommodate my fluctuating waste size (LOL). If I had to make one negative comment about the style, it would be that the gusset on the cargo pockets can catch on cabinet knows as you walk by --- mostly in the kitchen.

The only thing I do is take the shorts to my tailor to shortened the 8 inch to 7 inches so it does not touch my knees. I highly recommend these shorts.

I think the zipper is of poor quality and this has only occurred on Tommy Bahama shorts. I love the shorts (except poor quality zippers)
